Local Services Ads Booking Leads: Eligibility, Partners, Cost and Setup

Learn how Local Services Ads booking leads work, who is eligible, why supported booking partners matter, how bookings are billed, and what to verify in 2026.

Overview

A customer sees your Local Services Ad, checks an available time and books without calling first.

That can be a very useful path for appointment-based service businesses.

It can also be misunderstood.

A Local Services Ads booking lead is not simply a free click to the booking page on your website. Google treats direct booking as a lead type inside its local pay-per-lead advertising system when the business, market and integration are eligible.

The key questions are:

This guide walks through those questions without assuming that every booking link qualifies.

  • Is your business eligible?
  • Is the booking connection supported?
  • Is the correct Google Business Profile linked?
  • Is the appointment actually available?
  • Where will the lead appear?
  • Can the lead be charged?
  • How will you prevent duplicate client records?
  • What changes as Local Services Ads migrate into Google Ads?

Quick answer

To receive direct booking leads from Local Services Ads, Google's current help flow requires an eligible advertiser and a supported booking integration.

For the legacy Local Services Ads flow, Google lists these core requirements:

When those conditions are met, Google says the qualifying booking link can appear automatically on the Local Services Ads listing.

A booking generated from the ad belongs to Google's pay-per-lead campaign model. Do not treat it as the same thing as an organic Business Profile booking click or a normal website booking.

  1. you are a verified Local Services Ads provider;
  2. the correct Google Business Profile is linked to the Local Services Ads account;
  3. a booking link exists on that Business Profile;
  4. the booking link is managed by a supported booking partner.

Three booking paths that look similar but are not the same

Service businesses often use the phrase "Google booking link" for several different things.

Keep these paths separate.

The same scheduling provider may participate in more than one path.

That does not make the paths identical.

What is a Local Services Ads booking lead?

Google's booking feature allows an eligible customer to schedule from a Local Services Ad.

Instead of seeing the ad and then:

the customer can check supported availability and start the appointment process directly.

Google says the booking experience can show availability and services before contact.

For the business, that creates another lead channel alongside calls and messages.

  1. calling;
  2. waiting for an answer;
  3. describing the job;
  4. asking for a time;

Are booking leads paid leads?

Treat them as part of the pay-per-lead advertising system.

Google's newer pay-per-lead campaign documentation lists appointment bookings as an optional local conversion goal for eligible businesses.

The Leads reporting experience includes a Charge Status field that indicates whether a lead was charged, is under review, or received an automated credit.

That distinction matters.

Do not assume:

every person who touches the Book button costs exactly the same amount.

And do not assume:

direct booking is a free organic conversion because there was no phone call.

A Local Services Ads booking is an advertising lead. Review its charge status and actual business outcome.

Current eligibility: check the live account, not an old checklist

Eligibility changes by:

Google's documentation is also in transition in 2026 because Local Services Ads are moving into Google Ads.

  • country;
  • business vertical;
  • location;
  • provider support;
  • account configuration.

Current documentation is not perfectly aligned

As of September 14, 2026:

That is a real documentation mismatch.

The safe conclusion is not to guess which article will apply to every account.

If you are outside the U.S. or your category is restricted, check the booking controls visible in your actual account and the current partner requirements before making operational promises to customers.

  • Google's legacy Local Services Ads booking article says the booking feature is currently available only in the United States, with some verticals limited further by state;
  • Google's newer Google Ads pay-per-lead documentation says direct bookings on ads are currently available in the United States and Canada, with some vertical restrictions.

Known vertical restrictions

Current Google documentation says booking features are not supported for:

Some eligible verticals can also have state-specific restrictions.

  • healthcare verticals;
  • tax specialists.

The eligibility checklist

Before troubleshooting a missing Book option, confirm each layer.

1. Your Local Services advertiser is eligible

You need a Local Services Ads setup that supports booking in your market and vertical.

If the category itself is not eligible, changing your website booking page will not fix the ad.

2. Your provider verification is complete

Google's Local Services booking help says the advertiser must be a verified Local Services Ads provider for the Business Profile booking link to appear on the ad.

3. The correct Google Business Profile is linked

A booking integration on the wrong Business Profile does not help.

Confirm that the profile linked to the advertising account is the one representing the real business/location that should receive the lead.

For local-profile fundamentals, see Local SEO for Service Businesses.

4. A booking link exists on that Business Profile

The Business Profile needs the booking connection Google expects.

A random URL pasted somewhere on the web is not enough.

5. The booking connection uses a supported partner or integration

Google says booking is powered by integrated scheduling partners, and its newer Google Ads documentation also describes a custom Actions Center integration path for proprietary booking technology.

A normal scheduling URL is not automatically an LSA direct-booking integration.

What changed in August 2026?

Direct booking became much more important in late August 2026.

On August 25, 2026, Search Engine Land reported an announcement from Google Ads Liaison Ginny Marvin that Local Services Ads booking support was expanding from roughly 20 to more than 500 Reserve with Google partners.

The reported change is especially important for businesses that already have an active partner booking link on Google Business Profile.

According to that announcement, eligible advertisers can have booking enabled on their Local Services Ads automatically, without a separate manual link step.

Why you should still verify your own integration

There is an important documentation wrinkle.

Google's dedicated Local Services Ads Booking Partners help page still shows a much smaller named table of scheduling partners than the 500+ Reserve with Google figure reported from Google's August announcement.

That can mean the public documentation is catching up, or that Google is describing related partner pathways at different levels of the booking ecosystem.

For a business owner, the practical rule is:

Do not assume that the headline "500+ partners" means every booking tool qualifies in every vertical and market.

Verify the partner connection on your own Business Profile and Local Services/Google Ads account.

A booking link on Google Business Profile can matter automatically

Google's current Local Services help says that if all booking requirements are met, the supported booking link already connected to the linked Business Profile will automatically appear on the Local Services Ads listing.

That makes your Business Profile connection part of the ad-booking setup.

It also means an old integration deserves an audit.

Check:

  • which Business Profile is linked;
  • which booking provider is connected;
  • which services are bookable;
  • what availability is exposed;
  • whether the destination still matches the business;
  • whether former providers or duplicate links remain.

The booking partner is part of the operational workflow

Google says several appointment-management actions are handled in the booking partner account, including:

That means your advertising setup and your scheduling operations cannot be treated as separate worlds.

A beautiful Book button is useless if the connected calendar is wrong.

  • managing appointments;
  • rescheduling;
  • cancellations;
  • changing availability.

Availability hygiene matters more when the ad can book directly

A call gives staff a chance to explain schedule constraints before committing.

Direct booking removes part of that human buffer.

Before enabling or relying on booking leads, check:

Working hours

Are the hours accurate for the staff or resource that actually performs the service?

Service duration

Does the booking duration include the real time needed for the service?

Buffers

If you need travel, cleaning, setup or reset time, is that reflected in the scheduling system?

Staff and resource availability

Can two customers accidentally book the same person, room or equipment?

Date exceptions

Are holidays, vacations, training days and one-off closures blocked?

Lead time

Can a customer book too close to the appointment for your team to prepare?

Service area

If the service happens at the customer's location, can you actually reach the customer at the selected time?

A direct booking lead is only valuable when the appointment is operationally real.

For an owned scheduling workflow, see How Online Booking Works for Service Businesses and Booking Page Best Practices.

Where do booking leads appear?

The answer depends on whether the account is still in the legacy Local Services Ads experience or has migrated into Google Ads.

Before migration

Google's Local Services booking help says booking leads appear in the Local Services Ads lead inbox.

After migration into Google Ads

Google's new pay-per-lead documentation places phone, message and booking leads in:

Goals → Conversions → Leads

The table can include:

This transition is one reason older screenshots can become misleading during 2026.

Use the interface your own account currently shows.

  • lead type;
  • service type;
  • customer information when available;
  • campaign;
  • charge status;
  • lead status.

How to manage the appointment after it is booked

Google says core appointment actions such as rescheduling, cancellation and availability changes are managed through the connected booking partner.

If the details of the actual job change, contact the customer directly and make sure the partner calendar reflects the new reality.

Do not update only one system and leave another showing the old time.

That is how duplicate appointments and angry customers are born.

Can you turn booking leads off?

In the legacy Local Services Ads interface, Google documents an opt-out path under the Settings section of the Profile and Budget page.

As accounts migrate into Google Ads, control surfaces can change.

The newer Google Ads documentation describes booking as an optional goal that is enabled by default when an eligible business has an active booking integration.

If you do not want customers booking from the ad, verify the booking goal and partner-link settings in the interface your account currently uses.

Why automatic enablement deserves an audit

Automatic activation reduces setup friction.

It also creates a risk: a booking integration you set up months ago may suddenly matter in a paid advertising context.

Ask four questions:

If any answer is no, fix the operational layer before increasing ad demand.

  1. Is this still the booking provider we use?
  2. Are the services and availability current?
  3. Are we willing to pay for leads generated through this path?
  4. Can staff recognize and process these bookings correctly?

Do not confuse the LSA Book button with your website booking page

A business can have an excellent booking page on its own website and still not meet Google's LSA direct-booking integration requirements.

Your website page remains valuable because it is an owned customer path.

It can explain:

Then it can send the booking into your own scheduling workflow.

The Local Services Ads Book option is a separate paid acquisition path controlled by Google's eligibility and integration rules.

A service business can use both.

  • service details;
  • price or quote expectations;
  • policies;
  • location;
  • preparation;
  • staff;
  • available times.

How OneStudio fits without pretending to be a Google booking partner

OneStudio supports website-based online booking, services, availability, staff/resources, client records and business analytics.

That makes it useful for the owned booking journey from your website.

This Guide does not claim that OneStudio is a Local Services Ads booking partner or that a OneStudio booking URL automatically qualifies for Google's direct LSA Book button.

If your advertising strategy requires LSA direct booking, use a Google-supported booking path for that ad feature and keep your owned website journey clear as well.

Explore OneStudio features.

Track LSA booking leads separately from organic bookings

Direct booking creates an attribution problem if every appointment arrives in one calendar with no source context.

At minimum, try to preserve:

A booking can exist in both:

Do not create three "new clients" because three systems recorded the same person.

Use a stable matching method such as email, phone number or an internal client identifier where your systems support it.

For a simple data model, see Client Database Template for Service Businesses.

  • lead source;
  • campaign or channel;
  • booking date;
  • appointment date;
  • service;
  • customer;
  • charge status from Google;
  • booking status;
  • completion status;
  • revenue where appropriate.
  • Google's lead reporting;
  • your booking provider;
  • your CRM/client system.

Paid booking lead vs actual customer value

The Book button reduces friction.

It does not guarantee profitable jobs.

Measure the whole funnel.

Example

Suppose one month produces:

If Google reports $1,200 in cost for those booking leads:

Those business metrics are more useful than celebrating "20 bookings" without checking what happened afterward.

Use only revenue you can reliably attribute. Do not force uncertain numbers into the model.

  • 20 LSA booking leads;
  • 18 appointments accepted;
  • 15 customers show up;
  • 12 jobs complete;
  • $4,800 in attributable revenue.
  • ad cost per booking lead = $60;
  • cost per completed job = $100;
  • revenue per completed job = $400.

Booking quality checklist

Review direct-booking leads at least monthly.

Lead fit

  • Was the requested service one you actually offer?
  • Was the customer in the correct area?
  • Was the appointment type appropriate?

Scheduling fit

  • Was the slot genuinely available?
  • Was enough preparation/travel time included?
  • Was the correct staff member or resource assigned?

Commercial fit

  • Was the lead charged?
  • Did the customer attend?
  • Did the work complete?
  • Was the job value reasonable relative to acquisition cost?

Data fit

  • Was the customer added once?
  • Was the source preserved?
  • Did staff know where to update the appointment?

What happens during the Local Services Ads migration to Google Ads?

Google began moving Local Services Ads accounts into specialized Performance Max campaigns with pay-per-lead goals in August 2026.

Accounts with booking configurations are part of the broader phased rollout.

The booking concept does not disappear.

The management location changes.

Before your account migrates, document:

After migration, verify that booking remains configured as intended and that new leads appear in the Google Ads Leads view.

For the broader platform transition, see Local Services Ads to Performance Max: 2026 Migration Guide.

  • current booking provider;
  • linked Business Profile;
  • booking goal state;
  • services exposed;
  • availability;
  • lead volume;
  • booking lead cost;
  • booking-to-completion rate.

Troubleshooting: the Book option is missing

Work through the stack from top to bottom.

Check market and vertical eligibility

If your country, state or category is not supported, the booking button will not appear simply because you have a booking page.

Check verification

Confirm the Local Services advertiser has completed the required provider verification.

Check the linked Business Profile

Make sure the ad account is connected to the correct profile.

Check the booking link on the Business Profile

Confirm the booking connection is active and current.

Check partner support

Use Google's current booking-partner information and the live account state. Do not rely on a two-year-old partner list from a blog post.

Check availability

An integration can exist while no useful appointment inventory is available.

Check documentation age

Local Services Ads are actively migrating in 2026. If a screenshot or tutorial refers only to the old LSA dashboard, compare it with the current Google help flow and your live account.

Contact Google support when the requirements are met but the feature is still absent

Google's own booking help directs eligible advertisers to support if the correct verified profile and supported booking link are in place but the booking option still does not appear.

Make direct booking an operational channel, not just a button

The biggest mistake is to judge direct booking only by whether the Book button appears.

A useful booking channel has to survive the full journey:

ad → eligible booking path → real availability → correct appointment → client record → completed work → measurable outcome

When that chain is clean, direct booking can reduce friction for customers who already know what they need.

When that chain is messy, a faster Book button can simply create faster scheduling problems.

Keep the advertising integration accurate, keep the calendar honest, and keep your own booking/client history coherent.

OneStudio can support the owned part of that journey with website booking, client records and analytics. Explore OneStudio features.

Questions businesses ask

Is a Local Services Ads booking the same as a Google Business Profile booking?

No. A Business Profile can expose an organic booking action. A Local Services Ads booking is generated from the paid ad experience and belongs to Google's local pay-per-lead campaign system.

Does any booking URL work with Local Services Ads?

No. Google's current documentation requires a supported booking integration. A generic website scheduling URL should not be assumed to qualify.

Are Local Services Ads booking leads free?

Do not treat them as free. They belong to the pay-per-lead campaign model, and Google provides charge-status reporting for leads.

Does Google support 500+ booking partners?

Google Ads Liaison announced an expansion to more than 500 Reserve with Google partners in August 2026, according to Search Engine Land. Google's separate Local Services Ads Booking Partners help page still shows a smaller named table. Verify your own provider and account rather than treating the headline number as universal eligibility.

Is booking available outside the United States?

Google's current documentation is not fully aligned. The Local Services Ads booking article says U.S.-only, while the newer Google Ads pay-per-lead page says direct bookings on ads are available in the U.S. and Canada. Check live eligibility for your account, country and vertical.

Can healthcare businesses use LSA booking leads?

Current Google documentation says booking features are not supported for healthcare verticals or tax specialists.

Where do I reschedule or cancel a direct booking?

Google says appointment management such as rescheduling, cancellation and availability changes is handled through the connected booking partner.

Can OneStudio power the LSA Book button?

This Guide does not make that claim. OneStudio provides an owned website booking and client-management workflow, but LSA direct booking depends on Google's supported integrations and eligibility.
